Join us on August 8, 2018 in Downtown Waterville for the Taste of Waterville. This year’s event will feature live entertainment, children’s events, amazing food from our local restaurants, a beer garden with live bands, gymnastics and dance demonstrations and a business vendor section. Every year we close down Main Street and host a family friendly event. There is always something for everyone.

Best in Show – Maine General Health
This year’s Best in Show once again goes to MaineGeneral Health for it’s all around presentation.  Their commitment to making food not only delicious but healthy impressed the judges.  We loved the use of unfamiliar ingredients and the recipe cards that came with every dish.

The Lemon Quinoa and Berry Salad was elegantly presented and extremely tasty with four different kinds of fresh fruit and two kinds of quinoa.  It looked so beautiful we almost hated to eat it!  The sides were superb especially the surprisingly refreshing Watermelon with Cheese and Basil and the Roasted Corn/Tomatoes with Freekah and Cilantro in Lime Vinaigrette which was a great introduction to a new grain—freekah!  To top of a great meal was the Blueberry Shortcake with an exquisite whole wheat biscuit.

Patients at MaineGeneral are very fortunate to eat this well!


Best Sandwich/Wrap – Amici’s Cucina
Chicken Parmesan Sandwich

The chicken was perfectly cooked and very tender in this sandwich with just the right amount of marinara sauce and cheese.  Comfort food at its best!

Best Entrée – Parsonage House
Chicken Alfredo Pasta Roll

The presentation of this dish was beautiful with fresh tomatoes topping the pasta roll adding a bright pop of color.  The judges loved that this entrée was very cheesy but not too heavy for a warm summer evening.  One of the judges remarked that is was unequivocally the best dish on the table.

Best International Dish – Jewel of India
Chicken Tikka Masala

The judges loved the addition of several international flavors this year, the best of which was the Chicken Tikka Masala.  The curry added just the right amount of spice to not overpower the rest of the dish.  It was true Indian cuisine in central Maine.

Best Booth – Mainely Brews

The extra effort that Mainely Brews puts into their presentation is a delight every year.  Fresh flowers and plants, both hanging and positioned around the booth leave all patrons with a wonderful feeling of summer.

Best Salad/Appetizer/Soup – Mainely Brews
Lobster Stew

The Lobster Stew from Mainely Brews is a perennial winner.  The judges loved the large chunks of lobster in the delicious creamy broth.  A true Maine favorite.

Best Dessert – Parsonage House
Bread Pudding

Again this year, the judges had to choose from many delectable desserts.  The bread pudding was mouthwatering and full bodied but not too heavy to end the meal.  This bread pudding is a two-time winner and worth every calorie!
