Salad/Appetizer – Amici’s Cucina – Melon Salad
This interesting combination of flavors was not your usual fruit salad! Amici’s Melon Salad was a unique and refreshing summer side dish with a pretty presentation of colorful balls of fresh melon and mozzarella cheese sprinkled with crispy bits of prosciutto and dressed with a light mint-basil vinaigrette. A delightful combination of sweet & salty made this dish stand out.
Sandwich/Wrap- Inland Hospital – Marinated Portabella Mushroom Slider
There was no question where the delightful array of Prime Rib, Lobster, and Veggie sliders came from as they were held together with Inland Hospital toothpick flags. While the judges enjoyed the variety of flavors and the option to mix and match fillings; it was the marinated mini Portobello mushroom and smoked cheese slider topped with lettuce and tomato that left a lasting impression!
Dessert – The Last Unicorn – Lemon-Lime Pana Cotta with Fresh Berries
The smooth panna cotta was a favorite for its delicate lime flavor. The strawberries and blueberries added just the right touch of seasonal freshness. The serving cup, in which the berries were kept separate from the panna cotta, was a nice touch to keep them fresh until mixed with the smooth custard. A bright and fresh summer dessert!
Booth – Oak Grove Center
Newcomer, Oak Grove Center, won the judges over this year with their charming and bright red, white & blue country booth. Serving strawberry shortcake and hotdogs from their 1969 Hot Dog Trolley Cart, it reminded the judges of summer’s past and simpler times when small communities gathered to celebrate. The simple country theme included a bright red table dressing, hand decorated #10 metal buckets to serve condiments and silverware, a bucket of real strawberries on sticks expertly carved to resemble red roses, and some bales of hay to complete the look. Classic Americana!
Best in Show - Mainely Brew’s Lobster Stew & Lobster Rolls & Black Raspberry Parfait
Mainley Brews has done it again! All around best in Show...
Fresh food, large portions, beautiful booth, happy folks
Big chunks of fresh, sweet, Maine lobster in huge lobster rolls and swimming in a buttery sherry based stew. Fresh, local, colorful ingredients in Braised Beef or Pulled Chicken tacos and the Blackberry Parfait is ALWAYS worth the calories- Dive deep for those gorgeous chocolate covered berries!
We could barely get thru a course without the crowd wanting to know whose treats those were.
Congratulations Mainely Brews and keep up the great work!
